Kaylii - Last Thursday at 10:36 AM Tonight was the night. She was going to tell him tonight, the truth about her. About why everything in the aquarium stared her down, or why birds would never come near, or why dogs barked and growled when they walked past. He had been curious about the weird behaviors, naturally, but it was a secret she needed to keep. Until now at least. A few months into this strange, awkward, breathtaking adventure with the tall muscled and tender man until she decided he should know exactly what was so strange about her.
She asked if their date could be a walk at a local park. A place to move and be active but also engage. She put on a simple getup; some pale purple leggings, seashell printed tank, her purple sneakers, and her high done high up in a bun. Their dates were half dress up, half work out at this point. They both took pleasure in being mobile, and exerting energy for this kind of confession seemed the safest tonight.
Aquene headed towards the park in the early morning, when it was still crisp and clear and quiet. But despite the silence she was lost in thought, which meant her senses didn't pick up the smells until it was too late. The sounds of growls made her violet eyes flash up, but she could only scream as a large black beast, angered by the scents of her supernatural, leapt at her and drove his fangs deep into her upper arm. -------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Last Thursday at 4:10 PM It would be nice to get outdoors and just enjoy each other's company for a walk around the local park. Isaiah was ecstatic that Aquene was so adaptive to his active lifestyle. Something that really spoke deep to him as a person and a significant other. It's been such a serene past couple months; having someone to share life with. The zest that Isaiah so verily longed after felt tangible now. The anxiety of day to day life had all but melted into a managable puddle. Only every so often requiring to sponge it up rather than tread the onslaught of a raging river called depression. He arrived at the park, stretching out his legs behind him. Grasping his foot and pulling it up to parallel the sole with his back, his plasticity was a top concern he always fussed with. Though it would be chopped down suddenly with the sound of what could only be described as a wild animal attack, snapping his attention to a large canine like creature assaulting a girl clad in pastels and with... Familiar blue hair.
It was Aquene.
He wasted no time in sprinting over to the attacker and his girlfriend. -------------------------------- Kaylii - Last Thursday at 5:09 PM All the wolf understood was that this girl was not human, wolf, or anything inbetween that lurked around in this city. Which meant she was a danger and needed to be eliminated. Whatever she was, it burned his nose in a stench like way of disgusting, decaying fish. The wolf snarled, spitting with slabber spraying between him and the girl who screeched and cried and pleaded towards the beast, her free arm grasping over his muzzle in an attempt to pull him off. But he was going to stay on, rip her apart, let her bleed out so the unknown danger was gone. Supers united be damned in his mind. The wolves of this city didn't need something so foul.
Aquene had been planted to the ground once the canine leapt at her. He was huge, and his smell immediately told her it was a werewolf. She had always tried to avoid them in the city, despite it being owned by them. They hated the smell of her species, and for the months she had been here she was always lucky in managing in never having to be alone with them. Of course that had changed the moment she wanted to open up to someone about what made her different.
The movement behind the wolf caught her blurred, wet, and pleading violet eyes. No...
"Isaiah, don't!" She screamed in desparation. The wolf's dark eyes blazened to the side to catch the sight of the large human. But still a human. Easy prey. With a sharp tug which produced a snap and higher pitched scream out of the girl, the wolf let go to snarl his bloody jaws to the human and leapt for him next.(edited) -------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Last Thursday at 6:39 PM He didn't even acknowledge her plea. Something was hurting her badly, and he was to fix this. However, when the creature turned to him, he staggered in his step. It was unlike anything he'd ever seen. It was massive. Far more than he'd bargained for from a distance. However, this was no time to give second thoughts. He knew full well that this thing was fully capable of killing Aquene, AND himself. Isaiah regained his bull-charge on sturdy feed and reached his hands out to meet this wolf. He only caught a quick glimpse of his girl behind the form of the assailant, and her arm was in bad shape. Real bad from the looks of it.
Why in the hell would this thing just attack her like that? In this city? In broad daylight?!
Whatever, if he had to tear this thing limb from limb to save Aquene he would. In a frantic and worrying tone, Isaiah shouted "Aquene just stay away!" The blood dripping from the wolf's fangs torn open a realm of fear inside his head, one that would have to be put on the back burner for now. Isaiah reached his arms out to the wolf and aimed to grasp the muzzle. If he had to tear this thing's jaw off completely to teach it a lesson he'd do it in a heartbeat. -------------------------------- Kaylii - Last Thursday at 8:00 PM Everything was burning and she couldn’t move her left arm. Aquene’s right hand was gripping over the puncture wounds the wolf had made in her now ragged flesh, white as a sheet from shock and rising blood loss, but her wide terrified eyes watched in horror as the creature turned away from her and trailed her blood along with it. She couldn’t believe this was happening. These past two months had been the happiest memories for her in years, and she was about to lose it all because she was careless, and she was dragging the one responsible for her happiness along with it. Her voice croaked out his name again, tears dripping down her cheeks in the agony at the thought of this wolf touching him. She wanted to move. She wanted to stand and do something to stop this. Move, damn it!
The wolf’s richly brown eyes narrowed as large dark hands reached for his bloodied jaws. Fangs were exposed in a snarl, spitting blood towards the human. The man was stupid for trying. Large as he was, but this was a werewolf. He didn’t care that this was in plain daylight. He had to rid his city of the filth was that stinking behind him, and the human too if he was caught up in the weird, new, and strange supernatural being that she was. He hated it, with every fiber in his being. The smell drove his senses mad and without much more thought besides needing to rip the limbs from this human, the wolf dashed towards him with the goal of slamming his jaws into one of the limbs that were extended, and pull it from its socket.
“ISAIAH!” Aquene screamed, her body leaning forward in her need to get up and stop this. -------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Last Thursday at 8:27 PM His pupils dilated, fixating on the resonance of vitriol that coursed through his veins. With a hearty thud, his body crashed into the wolf's, feeling the serration tear at his right forearm as the thing sank it's teeth like oil drills for blood. The pain was immediate, crushing... and invigorating. It shot a dose of adrenaline like no other Isaiah had ever felt throughout his body, snapping a barrier that usually lay stalwart between him and sanity. Reaching over with his free hand, Isaiah's huge palm gripped the foreheard of the wolf. Closing his fingers around whatever was in their way, he felt the window of pliable softness that was an eyesocket. In a flare of reckless disregard of the being's life, Isaiah skewered his finger into the eye of the beast, feeling the rush of visceral fluids pass over his hand as the eye collapsed into itself. He continued grinding his appendage deeper, over what now felt like a severely damaged marble. Releasing his grip on the skull, he revealed a cavernous hole rapidly filling with blood spilling forth as a generous chalice of red wine would.
Surely this would make the wolf release his grip on Isaiah's now mangled forearm. -------------------------------- Kaylii - Last Thursday at 9:44 PM The wolf had latched on the arm and gripped hard, blood popping into his mouth as his fangs sank past the flesh and thick muscle. He growled through his throat as a hand plastered down on his head and started an attempted to sway his head fast in the goal to searing through the tendons and expunge as much as he could to drain the human fast. What he wasn’t anticipating was for fingers to press down and sink into his eye, and immediately his world was tossed into pain and blood as his eyesight went red and blinding. The pain continued to build and a howl of agony dragged with the wolf as he relinquished his hold on the human immediately and took a step back, away from the sudden torment.
He was blind from the pain, but he wasn’t immune to the scent. It was still driving his madness as he panted and breathed, and the wolf’s head snapped back in Aquene’s direction. He needed to end it. Her breath, even now, stank.
Aquene was nearly uncontrollable in her fear for what this creature was making the gentle soul of Isaiah do. Her body was numb in its shock and she took in loud stuttering gasps as she watched him drive his way into half blinding the wolf. She thought the horror was over when the wolf cried out and let go, thankfully, before it could do damage as extensively as it did to her. But then the head of the black canine zipped back towards her and her eyes widened as it charged for her, desperation in its steps as it opened its mouth and aimed for her throat. -------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Last Thursday at 10:25 PM Finally, his arm was free of the filthy mouth, allowing him to stand up and regain what he had left that could be described as composure. Peering down briefly at his arm, the wound was far worse than it felt. The adrenaline was still pumping vigorously and surely shock was setting in, pulling all necessary vitals to the central nervous system and allowing him to function while pouring out the bright red fluid. Through clenched teeth and eyes, he noticed the wolf turn his attention to Aquene once more. It wasted no time in swaying off what pain was ravashing his mind at the moment with a crushed eyeball and literally, going for the throat. If something had to be done to finalize this confrontation, it had to be now. Isaiah wasn't even sure there'd be any survivors with the amount of bloodloss, but he'd be damned if he let his girlfriend, his partner... Die to the teeth of this monster. In a blind fit of rage, Isaiah leapt from his purchase towards Aquene while the wolf had the same destination. The blood streaked up his arm as the wind blew across it, the surface tension keeping it all in one grotesque river, painting his skin with the color of war. Jutting his arm out, he found a solid hold inside the wolf's mouth, working his fingers around to the top of his muzzle. "AQUENE!!" Isaiah screamed, fighting through the pain and using his injured arm to get a grip on the lower jaw, preventing the fatal bite. Deep grunts and exhaustive gasps escaped both of the fighters as Isaiah muscled the creatures head underneath him to a more easily manageable position. It put up a great fight, the muscles tensing and shifting greatly. The striations clearly visible in the shoulders as it tried valiantly to pry it's freedom from the huge arms that kept him restrained.
This... This was enough. If it were to go on much longer Isaiah would lose stamina. He was exerting everything he had to keep this monster at bay. It had to end. With a booming scream, Isaiah's chest rippled and his hands white-knuckled the creature's mandible. The tongue of the wolf began to curl and salivate wildly before the first tear appeared just underneath it. Soon, the tear grew, blood pouring from the ever growing opening. As the tongue fell limp, a loud and dull crack could be heard as the bones just behind the wolf's eyesockets protruded grotesquely, snapping and twisting unnaturally. With one final guttural roar, Isaiah snapped free the lower jaw as the bones tore free from the sides of the mouth, the blood splattering his chest and face. All the facial arteries were being lacerated violently, the mouth now dangling limp. the sound of thick, viscous liquid penetrated the now unnervingly quiet air as Isaiah powered the wolf's head to the ground, placing a hand on it's throat and mashing down. All of his weight down around it's trachea, feeling it crush and distend morbidly in places no throat should.(edited)

Kaylii - Last Thursday at 11:36 PM Terrified at the sight, Aquene’s legs locked underneath her body as the wolf dashed for her a second time. She did nothing but stare at the jaws at that opened. She had never been a fighter. She was a student, a swimmer, a researcher, and a barista. She didn’t know the first thing about defending herself, despite the history her species had with wolves. Aquene came from a long line of gentle selkies, the norm of her kind, and her parents had taught her the same values of what it meant to be a good person. So nothing came to mind when she realized she was in danger as it clearly went for her neck, and simply stared as she awaited her own death as the jaws started to descend around her throat. Then the constriction and whiplash made her sputter as her body was pulled forward.
Her eyes bulged and she tried to gasp for air as the wolf snarled and breathed heavily against her, her one good arm doing what it good to push against the thing’s body. It wasn’t until there was a scream and a shadow overhead her did she realize Isaiah was trying to separate the two. She did what she could to pry off the monster as she was steadily growing wet with her own blood down her chest. The wolf snarled fiercely and tried to clamp harder, desperate for its kill before this human brute ruined its drive.(edited) The tension of the jaw and teeth loosened, suddenly, and Aquene spat up a cough as her throat was free from the deadly snapjaw, and involuntarily jerked herself back and hitting the ground as she fought to breathe. There was air, but she could also feel blood and she was between terror and acceptance of the inevitable. The beast had its way. She was going to die.
The loud snap was the last thing the wolf heard, then darkness. The creature limped out of Isaiah’s arm and slumped to the ground in front of the gasping teal haired girl. The canine’s body twisted, fur and blood spreading around it, and taking its place was the naked body of a young man, jaw broken and face bloodied with its eye punctured. ---------------------------------- January 19, 2018 EnigmaSyndrome - Yesterday at 12:29 AM The battle seemed to have dragged out for an eternity, the surrounding ground a macabre story of what went down. Looking on at what he just did, and what the wolf turned into... He fell back with his eyes locked onto Aquene. Mustering up whatever strength he had left, he crawled over to her and wrapped his arms around her. Taking a palm and placing it on the back of her head and pressing it gently into his chest, breathing rapidly trying to stave off an anxiety attack.
He hadn't embraced her for long before everything went black. It felt ethereal for only mere moments, like waking from a deep slumber. Peering down a tunnel of waxing light, gently flickering with each passing second. A warmth grew in his chest... or what he assumed to be his chest, pulling him. Beckoning him to wake up. A loud beep cascaded into his ear, jerking him awake with a lung-filling gasp. Haunted momentarily by the nature of the pristine, sterile surroundings only one thing came to mind: Aquene. Where was she? Was she okay? She was just in his arms, had he failed to protect her? Oh God, no.
Gazing around he noted that his arm was completely bandaged, among other bandages, various stitches and an IV bag of yellowish-pink fluid dripping monotonously into a reservoir, leading to a small tube that fed into his vein. Isaiah's head fell heavily back onto the pillow as the extreme exhaustion set in. "Aq..uene." Frail, broken, but alive. The voice was barely there, but there nonetheless. ---------------------------------- Kaylii - Yesterday at 1:04 AM Slowly, grudgingly, consciousness came back after blackness, but from what Aquene wasn’t quite sure. Her eyes blinked slowly as her vision fought against the bright blurriness. It took a few minutes, but she started to make sense of the ceiling. Her eyes casted downwards and noted that she...was in...a bed. But it wasn’t hers. Things were still blurry but she knew that this wasn’t her room. Where the hell was she? She turned her head slowly and that was when the tug and sudden reminder of pain started. Then the notice of IV’s and tubes and the side rails of a hospital bed. The girl stared at it all in confusion. Why was she…
Eyes began to widen as the memories slowly came back. Of the wolf that lunged at her, the blood and the pain that he erected by tearing open her arm. She glanced down to see said limb in bandages and a sling. Then the memory of a large man coming to help - Isaiah. Where was he. Was he okay, or did he…? That was the last thought that crossed her mind before her panic kicked in and she gurgled out a hoarse cry, eyes clamping shut with tears as a nurse walked in.
Sharp brown eyes were at the nurse’s station outside the room of the human male that had been brought in, shifting between paperwork and looking up towards the man’s room with a frown. She shifted restlessly every once and a while, a slender dark brown hand brushing at her dreads. The wolves weren’t quite sure what had happened, yet. Only that one of their own had been involved and it had to do with the girl that reeked. No one knew exactly, but at the sudden movement in the human’s room, the nurse knew answers were going to come soon. She demanded a comrade go and get the doctor to explain things while she headed into the room herself.
“Mister Noel. We’re relieved to see you awake.” She commented, watching his movement cautiously. They still weren’t sure who was to blame, but getting contact information was easy in the Greybacks pack. “How are you feeling?” ---------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Yesterday at 3:45 PM "Where is she." His voice cracked with every syllable, the dryness scratching incessantly every time he let air pass through. It wasn't so much a question. It was a demand. He wouldn't accept anything other than her exact location; to see her face. Her eyes lay his bed of solace in which he found his most comforting state of mind. His breathing began to increase and become shallow, the fear of everything that happened suddenly crashing back to earth like a bomb. Isaiah's chest heaved, undulating with panicked dissonance. Beyond his ears pounding with ever increasing heartbeats like wardrums, he heard "Go ahead and give him ten of Benzos, keep an eye on his heart rate." He wasn't sure who said it, nor did he even understand, though a young nurse came adjacent to his bedside and twisted a syringe readied with a clear fluid to a port in the tube. The nurse plunged the syringe and the medicine disappeared into the tube, and not but seconds later an incredibly warm feeling bubbled deep from his stomach and flowed up across his chest into his head like a heated blanket. His eyes became heavy when he tried to look at the Nurse comforting him; "There we go. Take it easy big guy." He desperately tried to shake off the drug and regain a semblance of consciousness, but it was all for naught. "Where... is she..?" His own tongue fumbled through the question once more, the irritation a distant memory. Replaced with the same warmness that embraced his entire body, now. Isaiah hadn't dipped into medically induced unconsciousness, rather, he was put into a wakeful zombie-like mood. His anxiety was gripping him and the team at the hospital didn't want a code on their hands. Having a patient who was as badly injured as Isaiah was, become tachycardic? Not exactly a good thing. ---------------------------------- Kaylii - Yesterday at 9:36 PM Aquene heard the soft voice but between the groggy state of fighting off the drugs running through her system, and the overbearing emotions of fatigue and anguish and not knowing where her partner was, the girl sobbed, unable to focus on the nurse who was making her way to gently pat her on the good arm. Sobbing led to large intake of breaths, and something wafted through her nose, picking at the emotion of dread. And panic. More deep inhales as she was confused at why she naturally started to fear what she was smelling, and it took moments to relate the scent to the nurse next to her. Blurry wet eyes looked towards the nurse who was offering her a smile and sweet words, when it hit her. It was a wolf. She smelled like the creature that lunged at her, and then attacked Isaiah, wanting to kill them both.
“N-No.” She squeaked, her arm trying to claw its way back from the stranger. She didn’t want to feel fangs again. She didn’t want to die. The panic made her heartbeat rise and a machine started to make noise, increasing the sudden rush of terror as Aquene pushed her tired aching body from the bed, seeing the tangles of tubes and blankets as forces to keep her down so these beasts could finish their job.
“Get away from me!” Her scream was hoarse and broken, but it was loud, accompanied by the sudden rush of machines screeching as she started to pry things off.
“ISAIAH!” She needed to find him. She needed to get him out of here before they were killed. She yanked her wrist with the IV set to her teeth to yank it out of her veins. She needed to be free.
The nurse hit a button in her panic as she tried to get the girl who reeked to calm down. The boy was only in a couple rooms away. She couldn’t run the risk of setting him off too. ---------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Yesterday at 10:05 PM Shit really began to hit the proverbial fan when through his drug induced haze he clearly heard Aquene scream his name. the endorphin rush immediately counteracted the Valium that coursed through his veins, snapping to a sitting position in his bed. He immediately leapt from the bed which caused the intravenous lines that adorned his arm to be violently ripped free, spraying the antibiotic fluid everywhere. Not having used his legs for an extended period of time only served to operate as if he were out at sea, desperately trying to find his footing while being bogged down in a mental fog. The room around him spun, and nausea hit Isaiah like a truck. He no sooner fell to the ground and vomited. With little to no grace, he took his hospital gown and wiped his mouth and nose free of the refuse, but he couldn't bear to stand again. "Aquene! Baby I'm here, I'm okay! Where are you?!" Voices and footsteps rushing to his aide grew louder and louder until quite a few hands grasped him in a non-violent manner. They helped him to a sitting position against the wall next to his bedside, a couple more quickly wrapping gauze and muslin around his torn IV wounds. "The girl was brought in with him." Isaiah made out among the medical jargon being thrown across the sterile, antiseptically clean halls. "S..She's my girlfriend. I want to see her. I need to see her..." Isaiah rasped out, tilting his head to the side and closing his eyes. Any respite to stop the room from spinning so much. "Don't hurt her, please don't hurt her. She's everything to me."
Some say mind-altering drugs, whether medical or recreational, are 'truth serums.' Able to pry the truth out of anyone who dare imbibe.
To Isaiah, there was no prying. There was no secret. He loved this girl more than anything he had before in life, certainly more than himself. She was a part of him. He would be so lost without her.

Kaylii - Today at 12:28 AM The scream hurt as the stitches in her throat stretched, causing Aquene to cry harder, thinking these horrible creatures had hurt her further, and thus were hurting her human. She was in the process of trying to tear at the tape and IV in her wrist between her teeth when she heard Isaiah’s voice, and the women stilled. He was alive, and close. With a gasp she shouted out again.
“I’m here! Isaiah!” The scream was softer the second round as the rush of relief at knowing he was alive worked on calming her nerves, but only just. She was in the process of trying to remove her weak body from the bed when the nurse finally grabbed her shoulders and joined by another, forced her to stay. It wasn’t hard, she was still healing and groggy and frail but she hated the fact that these brutes were touching her and wailed against it. “Please, don’t hurt him. He doesn’t understand.” That made both the nurses pause and looked towards each other. They understood that right away; the human didn’t know about their world, but she certainly did. The nurse who initially walked in had been on the sidelines while others dealt with the mess of the human who was making himself worse in his attempt to go get the stinky girl. Her brow creased and she looked down at her phone, texting their alpha of what was happening. She wanted to know what the fuck the creature was, and why these two killed a were. Easy to demand through phone, when you weren’t there to see the giant fucking mess that was unfurling between these damaged...lovers.
“We’re helping both of you. You sustained some pretty serious injuries. Please, stay in your bed.” She said calmly, taking a step towards his bed as they treated the wounds he caused on himself. “But to help more, you need to tell us what happened. Why did you kill one of our kind?” She said with the assumption that he was fully aware he was currently guilty of murdering a werewolf in broad daylight. A truth that made everyone in the room cautious. Humans killing wolves was no easy feat.(edited)
--------------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Today at 1:37 AM It was such a relief to hear her voice. All he ended up hearing was something about, their 'kind?' He killed... One of them? The hell was the doctor talking about? He killed a wolf, not some- wait. Surely they were suggesting that they were wolves? Through recurring pain and severe nausea, he cracked a smile at the sheer absurdity of it. Yeah, sure, werewolves. Like old storybooks he read as a child. Big mean things that eat grandmas and terrorize the streets of London. However, a quick glance around the room at the seriousness in every single one of their faces.
"Baby what are they talking about?" Isaiah weakily rose to his feet and made his way over to where he was hearing Aquene's voice, and sure enough. There she was. Between him and her, a partition of opaque cloth. Isaiah reached out to the partition and pulled it back. Without even waiting for her to answer, his eyes brightened up and immediately tears began to form. Isaiah almost ran over to her, the hurried pitter patter of his bare feet on the linoleum floor silence when he reached her bed, leaning over and grasping her in the biggest hug he could possibly give with one mangled arm. "Oh my god I was so scared I lost you." His voice was muffled in her shoulder, laying his head into her neck.
There was a lot to take in. Everything. It made no sense that these medical staff were concerned that one of 'theirs' was now dead at the hands of Isaiah. But from what he was gleaning of the people around him, he wasn't too sure that truth wouldn't be stranger than fiction.
--------------------------------------- Kaylii - Today at 2:16 AM The nurse narrowed her eyes as the man eventually smiled, realizing he wasn’t taking her seriously. Which meant he didn’t know what the beast truly was. When he looked up at the group of hospital staff and saw the wary stern faces as they looked back at the wolf killer, the nurse couldn’t help but feel some shame as she knew his world was about to get a lot bigger today. They ran this city, but they still tried to keep the peace and let humans keep the ignorant bliss of staying out of their war driven world. She was starting to get the sense that he wasn’t the instigator in the fight, but they still didn’t understand what the fuck happened.
Aquene perked past the nurses as Isaiah’s voice spoke up again. She was fighting past the groggy daze and coming more and more to her senses, realizing she was in a large room rather than an individual space. Her wet face turned as she saw the movement out of the corner of her eye, and there he was… his large frame blurred by a curtain. Isaiah moved it and for a moment the pair stared, her eyes widening in the sudden relief that bursted in her chest. He was alive, and safe, and he was here.
“Izzy…” She husked out, hands reaching up for him as he made his way towards her bed and pulled her into a hug. The warmth of his giant gentle body made her shake. She wished she could stop crying, but the tears just wouldn’t stop as her anxiety fled through them. Her good arm reached up and wrapped around him the best it could, letting herself be buried in her precious human. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” Her voice cracked in-between her sobs. She was to blame for everything that happened. And she was hating herself for it. “It’s my fault. It’s all my fault. He… he smelled me.” There was a sudden shift in the room as the wolves perked immediately to the confession. She knew she smelled rotten to them.
Aquene didn’t want this to be the way she revealed her secret, but he had to know. He couldn’t keep remaining in the darkness when she was why he was here, mangled up and emotional. “It’s because of me this happened. I’m so sorry, Isaiah.”
--------------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Today at 2:54 AM Releasing her from the hug only to caress her face with his hand and pull her in for a kiss, Isaiah couldn't help but laugh just a little. He looked over her hair and pulled his fingers through it, placing it behind her ear. "No no no shhh. Hey, look at me." A large hand found it's way around to her back and gently rubbed it. "It was just a freak accident. It's not your fault, okay?" Isaiah still had some tears that occassionally found their way down his cheek, more or less mirroring his girlfriend. He had no idea that she had a 'scent' or a 'stink' that weres could pick up on. And even then, a scent that drove them to literal murder.
"I don't understand though. What do you mean he smelled you? Was it a perfume you were wearing or something, you think?" He still didn't want to believe the whole insane werewolf theory. But, shit, what else could possibly go wrong? The whole room fell silent like someone just died... for lack of a better term. Isaiah couldn't put two and two together solely because he wasn't predisposed to this secondary hidden world intangible to him and possibly any other human.
Isaiah turned to the team of medical personnel surrounding them now, a look of inquiry splashed across his face. "What's going on here. What is this 'your kind' talk? I'm sorry if I sound insensitive but, I'm so lost here." Turning back to Aquene, he inspected her injuries and continued to massage her back. Small little acts of caring to let her know, no matter what happens, he is hers. Together in life as a team, and as a couple.
--------------------------------------- Kaylii - Today at 3:14 AM Aquene flinched as Isaiah laughed. He thought this confession was a joke or a tease, when she hadn’t been more serious in her life, but she couldn’t resist the pull in her desire to accept his affections, welcoming his kiss and his gentle hands as they caressed her face and hair. Purple eyes looked up at his demand, reddened from the tears that kept swimming down her cheeks, and she could see that he didn’t understand. Her brow furrowed as he misunderstood her explanations, and could only shake her head when he thought she just wore a scent to ravage the wolf. It wasn’t on her skin. It was in her blood.
Her lips trembled as he talked. She wanted to hear his voice and the softness of his questions, but she terrified of the truth that she needed to answer him with. She was expecting rejection, but she knew he needed to know. By her, not these awful creatures all awaiting around them, intensely staring and judging.
“Isaiah.” She forced her gaze down, her words quiet and serious. “I’m not human.” The first of the confessions hit her hard and her eyes clamped shut as tears burned her sight. She breathed in hard for the courage to keep going. Her hand had been on Isaiah’s shoulder, but fearing that he would wretch it away once she kept talking, she lowered it gently to her lap. “The wolf that attacked us, he was a werewolf. So are they, the people behind us. And they… their species hate mine, because I smell. I smell like something dead to them.” The wolves shifted, listening as intently as the human.
“I’m what humans call a selkie.” The word finally came out and a pained noise burned in her throat. “God, I’m so sorry, Isaiah. Please…” Please, what? Forgive her? Accept her? The nurse breathed into the silence that followed the girl’s audible please. A selkie. That was all. She had never met one, but she knew of the stories. How foolish her pack had been. Thinking this little girl was a threat.
“The wolf attacked you first, didn’t he?” She asked softly. She needed the verbal confirmation. Perhaps it wasn’t the right time, but Morrigan wasn’t going to wait.
--------------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Today at 5:40 PM If the day couldn't get any more unbelievable, she uttered the words that almost didn't seem to make sense at first. She wasn't human? But... She was here, looking at him. Human tears, human hair. Her human skin he loved to trace his fingers over, her human eyes that situated so softly in his heart, driving it to beat her name with each passing day stronger and stronger. Yet, she kept mentioning things that were more and more difficult to grasp mentally. Werewolves, they were real. And she, his love to the ends of the Earth, was a Selkie? He wasn't exactly sure what to make of the situation, sitting back in a stunned disbelief briefly before looking to the staff and realizing they weren't; none of them were... human. They knew. They all knew about this. But, why weren't -they- attacking her just as the rabid one he killed? "Aquene... I don't..." He closed his eyes and hung his head, shaking it softly. "I don't understand. What is a Selkie? Are... Are werewolves real? Like, you're not joking right?" Isaiah turned to the passing question of the initiative the large wolf took in attacking Aquene seemingly out of nowhere with no motive, and nodded his head solemnly.
Looking back to his girlfriend, he took a deep breath and mulled over the distress in her voice. The fear and emotional pain she was showing. Placing a hand on her waist and gently pulling her closer, he had to reassure her. It was a sensitive time for all of them. "Baby, listen. I don't care what you are, you are my life. You have given me a new purpose I never felt I had before. I love you. More than anything."
--------------------------------------- Kaylii - Today at 6:31 PM Aquene did her best to hide the hurt as Isaiah’s hand left her back, leaning away from her. She didn’t want to see his face as she knew then that he was rejecting her as she thought. It still hurt, despite how much she was letting herself be prepared for it, and her shoulders tightened as she battled to keep her emotions under control. He had every right to walk away from her after what happened to him.
She shook her head when he asked if she was joking, her throat too tight in her anguish to give him anything else of an answer. She wished was this a sick joke, not that she’d be capable of such a thing. But it would have been easier than the offworldly truth that she was forcing him to understand. How much she wished she could just turn back time and avoid this whole disaster, and spare his innocence a little longer.
Her body jumped as Isaiah grasped her waist. Her eyes opened before looking towards the man and his words. She squeaked out a cooning sound as her throat tried to find her voice again, disbelieving her ears. “Izzy.” She whispered. The hand that was shaking on her lap reached up and touched at his face. “I love you too.” She cheeped towards him. God how she wished she could sound more confident at this moment. He was giving her the world right now. The head nurse in the room looked towards the other staff members sharply, and they left, giving the couple more privacy in this harsh confession. They were outside the room still, not wanting to leave completely when they needed to tend to the wounds their patients inflicted on each other, but they figured he’d comply better if he wasn’t feeling surrounded, now that he knew what they were.
“Mister Noel. I know all of this has been hard, but please, let me help you get back to your bed. You need to rest.” She said with as little emotion in her voice as she could. Unfortunately, even that wasn’t enough, as Aquene stiffened in fright at the reminder that her kind’s enemy was still in the room.(edited)
--------------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Today at 7:20 PM To hear her reciprocate his love made him so much more calm than even seconds before. Everything about these supernatural beings seemed to melt away when he looked into her welcoming eyes. He chuckled through his teeth as he gave her a couple more little love pecks on the lips before reluctantly turning away to the doctor's suggestion. "It'll be okay Aquene. I'm sure they saw what I can do to anyone who hurts you. They'll take care of you." He turned a sharp eye to the rest of the staff before getting up from Aquene's bed and returning in the direction of his bed, which had attendants changing the sheets from the antibacterial and bloodstained mess. They almost looked perturbed and angry that he made such a fuss but, hey what can you do when you anger a man of his size?
Climbing back into fresh sheets and coaxing his lengthy wavy black hair to one side of his head lazily, he lay his head back into the fluffed pillow. "So. Are you all, really..." Those wolf things, that attacked his girlfriend. A question that was stunted in the need to even see any semblance of proof at all. Given their seriousness over all this, it should be enough but. this is supernatural creatures we're talking about here. This isn't exactly something you can just go- oh yeah, that seems possible- on hearsay. "Listen, I'm sorry if what I did opened up something, but that thing was about to kill her. You have to understand." Speaking to no one in articular, Isaiah pleaded as his arm was worked on once more to find another vein in order to continue his regimen of medicine that would prevent any infection to rise from the severe wounds he sustained. Another nurse placed electrocardiogram stickers to his chest, which twitched slightly with every cold press of the gel on his skin. Clicking the leads into place, the nurse plugged in the unit to the machine and it began to read out his heartbeat digitally. "He has elevated QRS's, but that could be because of a strenuous workout regimen. Mr. Noel do you work out?"
He just stared at her.(edited)
--------------------------------------- Kaylii - Today at 8:30 PM Aquene was not convinced, not completely, even as Isaiah consoled her fears, but the kisses and the sweet smiles helped her swallow her worries. Her hand was left raised as he drew away from her, body drifting towards him and her brow creasing as she ached to have his warmth come back and make her feel safe. A nurse came over instead and helped her lay back down before administering a drug to help her relax, and sleep.
The nurse waited as Isaiah got back into his bed, tucking strands of her dreads behind a ear and walked towards him. She knew he had questions, and even if she had a feeling he wouldn’t remember a good portion of it, she would do her best to answer his questions, and in turn maybe have something more to give to her alpha than just knowing what Aquene’s species was.
The wolf was normally reserved, but even she couldn’t help but chuckle softly at the standard question thrown out towards Isaiah, if he worked out, and the face he made back in return. Fingers clasped over her lips to silence herself and grabbed hold of a chair, pulled it towards his bed, and sat down. She looked up at him and the smile died.
“We are, Mister…Isaiah.” She said. First names had better connection for situations like these. “I’m Sharon, a member of the Boston’s pack, the Greybacks.” “Who attacked you was a loner. He didn’t know about the other creatures that could be living in this city, but I should tell you know, a Selkie this far up north is exceptionally rare. They live south, where it’s warm and humid, and werewolves are not. He probably didn’t understand what he was attacking, only that it was hurting him and making him stupid.” She paused for a moment, her hands folding themselves on her lap as she looked towards him apologetically.
“I believe it was in self defense and do not blame you for protecting yourself, but Aquene will most likely have to visit our alpha soon, once she’s finished healing. We should have known she was here.”
“She is incredibly lucky to have you, Isaiah. I don’t know what made her want to live in a city run by the species that instinctively would hate her, but she’s alive today thanks to you.”
--------------------------------------- EnigmaSyndrome - Today at 10:30 PM She couldn't have shunned his apprehension, having all this thrusted on him so suddenly would make anyone's head spin in directions they didn't know even existed. What was down, what was up? Who even knew anymore. "Thank you Sharon. I just. I can't even grasp what's going on. You gotta understand, yesterday I was just this guy in Boston, now I found out that I'm dating a.. Selkie was it? And you're all wolves, I just..." He reached up and scratched his head quizzically. An exasperated breath escaped him and he looked back up to Sharon. "Your uh, alpha. Who are they? Should I be concerned for my Girlfriend? What's going to happen?" Isaiah wanted to apologize for all the questions he was slinging at this lady; she seemed nice enough. Nothing like the beast 'loner' that attacked Aquene. To hear her comment on the fact that Aquene could've died if Isaiah weren't there. It sent a deathly chill up his spine. It never even came across his mind that there might be more Loners out there. Ones that would attack a Selkie on sight. He would hate to have Aquene live in constant fear of them. How long as she been living like this, her whole life?
"When she goes to meet your Alpha, I want to be with her. Forgive me but, I don't have the highest trust right now." Isaiah didn't even look her in the eye making that statement. "My mother is Iranian and my dad is French which is where I also come from. Southern France. How far does this all go? Are we talking world wide here?"
--------------------------------------- Kaylii - Today at 10:48 PM A million questions were thrown at the werewolf, and while she expected it, her mind stilled as she fought over which information she could give in the moment. He knew about them now, but he still human. He wasn’t part of their pack, and they could only answer so much unless it was out of the alpha’s mouth herself… or that damnable vampire that seemed to know everything. Sharon kept her mouth from curling in her own hatred for the species as she needed a clear head and talk to the human with a level head.
“Whether you can be with our Alpha when the meeting’s been setup will be up to her. If she wants to see Aquene alone, then we will follow her wish.” Sharon said simply. “Anyone of supernatural descent in our territory must tell our pack. They have to have permission. Aquene probably was afraid to meet us, but it was more dangerous that we weren’t aware she was here, so we could tell others.”
“Your family… is human. They are safer from us than they are from themselves. You knowing all of this is only because of Aquene. If it had just been you who was attacked, we would not be having this discussion. So please understand, keeping this secret is imperative. You do not have to trust me. You have no reason to, other than to hopefully believe I am here only to help you recover. This hospital is for healing, regardless of what you are. But I believe understanding us better, and Selkies, is a conversation you should have with Aquene. “ Sharon looked towards the monitors.
“You really should try and get some rest. Do you want help sleeping?”
