Appearance:
Riley is tall, broad, and intimidating. His hair is a rich shade of fiery red, usually kept relatively short but never really brushed or combed; quick swipe out of bed and he’s usually happy to go. His facial hair is a shade darker than his hair and kept in a well-trimmed goatee, typically with stubble dusting his cheeks and throat. Blue green eyes compliment his Irish appearance well. He’s particularly pale, but that’s not a typically noticed detail due to the amount of tattoos covering up most of his body (all colorful, mostly animals/nature in theme). What used to be a generally grinning face is actually more tired and rugged than normal due to the nature of his job. His clothes stay simple; gray shirts and tank tops, a well-worn in black leather jacket (or black hoodie), well-worn faded blue jeans, and black combat boots.

Personality:
Riley has a tendency to keep his distance from most people to begin with, but once his outer shell is broken Riley is actually quite friendly, flirty, playful, and a bit (too) ornery. His line of work makes it hard to break down emotional walls easily. It’s easier to keep people at a distance than risk heartbreak for either party. Riley is quite selfless and loyal. Once he’s a friend, he’s a friend for life. Riley is a leader by nature and quite competitive. He has no issue (sometimes no control) voicing his opinion, well known for having foot-in-mouth disease.
Relationships:
Phelan: The werewolf is Riley’s best friend. When Phelan ran away from his pack he ran far, across an ocean to get away. Penniless and pack-less, Phelan grew used to wandering around in his wolf form, traveling only at night and only where people rarely walked by. One night scrounging for dinner Phelan heard a struggle and came across three very large, very tattooed men surrounding a young, teenaged Riley Talbot, looking less than pleased about something. Phelan broke his rule and sprang in to help; such a large wolf sent the men running, and a bond was formed between the two. Phelan became Riley’s best friend, and the werewolf helps him in wiping his home town clean of corrupted vampires.
Nadia Jones: Riley met Nadia upon spying her in the same coven territory that he was in, looking very scared and extremely inexperienced for a vampire hunter. After a few words of warning, he talked her out of attacking by herself to save her brother and coming to train with him instead. Something about the tiny woman made him want to help and protect her, and when the time came he was more than willing to risk his life yet again to help save her brother’s, to make her happy. It was easy to read his feelings for her, and after their nightmare rescue mission ended they spent the best summer he’d ever had with the Australian woman. That would be the last long term happiness he experienced after she returned home to her own life across the world from him. Their contact became strained as his job took its toll on both of them and finally he forced himself to cut ties with her and the two mutually broke it off. He still thinks of her often.
Riley’s paternal grandmother is still alive, the woman that raised him when he lost both of his parents at an extremely young age. When in Ireland he makes frequent visits to make sure she’s taken care of. After clearing up a lot of the vampire population Riley felt safe enough to leave his home with Phelan.
History:
Riley’s only actual parent was his grandmother; his mother passed away before he ever truly knew her, and his father was very rarely around, generally out seeking his fortune and drinking it immediately away. Riley never realized what he was missing (consciously), but kicked up quite a rebellious streak as he grew older. He spent most of his time outside of the house as a young teen, avoiding his father on the off times he was actually home.
Riley became introduced to the dark underbelly of the town that he lived in, when he father drunkenly revealed that his fortune seeking happened to be bounty hunting. Supernatural bounty hunting; apparently their village was simply overrun by vampires. Corrupt vampires, and lots of them, all fighting for control that they’d held for thousands of years over the country. Riley never connected with or even really liked his father, but when he went missing and a body identified as his had been reported, he knew what had likely happened and felt pangs of guilt. Riley developed the idea that he could just be letting the place that he called home be overrun by corruption. He took it upon himself to take over his father’s work; drunk or not it was him keeping lots of the undead at bay.
Riley remained on his own for years, growing stronger and faster and certainly far more well-known than his father for his work. After Phelan joined him business only boomed even louder. He had no real social life, as he slept during the day and worked at night… But fate seemed to want to toss him a break when he met Nadia Jones. After a life-threatening adventure to train her, save her brother, and cleanse the town… The two became inseparably close. That is until real life squeezed its painful hold around each of them and forced them apart, back to their old lives, Nadia back in Australia and Riley home in Ireland. The distance took its toll and after sleepless, anxious months, they mutually called it quits and tried to move on with their lives.
Life went on, but after Phelan received a letter that he stayed extremely vague and secretive over, the werewolf told him he would also had to leave and tend to business back home. After years of loyalty and friendship from Phelan (and the unbearable thought of being in his house alone), Riley decided to return all of the life-saving favors he’d been given over the years, and follow along to help Phelan in whatever he was doing. After a brief hesitance, Phelan agreed and brought the fellow slayer along. Riley continues to hunt vampires (on commission now) and stay under the radar, especially under the watchful eyes of Phelan’s pack.
